Level: Easy, all flats, some relaxed hills on the Chilgok side. A few easy road crossings.
Distance: Around 25km roundtrip from Downtown/ Camp Henry
Locating: Fairly easy, using the main Geumho River as your guide and following the paths on the Shincheon side and then the Chilgok side.
If you are in Daegu, one of the easiest off the beaten path locations is getting to the Geumho River Observation Deck on the Chilgok Side.
If you're heading out from Camp Henry area, you'll need to follow the Sincheon River North until you get the bike rest stop and giant river otter statue. At this point, you'll cross the bridge and go left to follow the Geumho River.
You'll need to cross the river in North Daegu and head over towards Chilgok. Once the big bridge is crossed (it has a large protected sidewalk from the cars) and then the bike path/side walk continues until you get to small park and traffic light where you will cross over the the other side of the smaller river. From there take a right and follow the Geumho River.
This will lead you to a small mountain road that many of the locals use for walking. There are farm trucks that use this road so don't think that you can ride as fast as you can down the center.
This road is easy riding and offers up a view of a temple and some nice easy hills. Keep riding and you'll get to an observation deck that is good for a rest and some tea. You'll be overlooking the Geumho River and across the way you can see a campground.
You can keep going down this road after your rest until you see another gravel rest stop. After that, if you keep riding behind the gravel rest stop, you'll see another small temple and then the road works it's way between some farms and terminates up in the mountain. Not much to see so I'd recommend turning back at the gravel spot and heading back.
If you're coming from Camp Henry, this ride is a little under 30km roundtrip.
